For the second consecutive year, just weeks before Christmas, I’ve found money on the ground! Both times I’ve been so tempted to grab the notes and take off - particularly given things are so tight I’ve had to loan money off my boys - but I’m too honest for that.
I picked up a dirty old velcro wallet under a wooden bench seat at the Little Athletics regional relay races on Saturday and it contained about $200! I considered for a second that maybe it was a gift from above. It also contained a seniors card which was cut in half and I went with my natural instinct and handed it in.
I’m not exactly thrilled but someone must be jumping for joy! And that’s where it’s at - putting yourself in someone else’s shoes.
Last year I found a $50 note on the floor in a cafe and handed it in. I suggested to an employee that if no one collected it I’d be back in a few days to claim it. Apparently, an elderly pensioner and regular customer came looking for it.
Not long after that incident, I found a $20 note on the footpath during a power-walk and wasted no time in making it mine!
We’re talking about some serious sowing here; surely I’m due for some major reaping! Watch this space …
