This bright and cheery expression belies how tired I was feeling before heading off to church this morning.

I must be carrying a backpack-size load of worries this week because I keep waking at some ridiculous hour of the night, notably 3am, and tossing and turning for a couple of hours before finally drifting back to sleep. Do you have nights like this?

Usually I’m good at chatting to God and handing my troubles over to him, then I walk and sleep in a blanket of his perfect peace. Not this week. So I knew what I had to do this morning … go up the front for prayer. And now that I’m home and rugged up on the couch, I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I feel so relaxed but ready to pass out for a nanna nap!

But my beautiful parents have arrived with a trailer load of wood for the fire, most of which Dad chainsawed to size specially for us. How amazingly selfless is that? So the nap is  on hold for a while and I’m off to help offload.

“But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and now grow weary; they will walk and not faint,” Isaiah 40:31.
